The quick version

Your sunshine, in a softgel. Your skin makes vitamin D from sunlight, and desk days, gray winters and daily SPF all cut that down. The more melanin your skin has, the less vitamin D it makes from the same sun.

Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium for strong bones and teeth, and supports normal muscle function.* One softgel a day. Done.

  • Bones and teeth*
  • Muscle function*
  • 2,000 IU of the sunshine vitamin
What it is

One small softgel a day with 50 mcg (2,000 IU) of vitamin D3, as cholecalciferol, the same form your skin makes in sunlight. It comes dissolved in a little soybean and corn oil, because vitamin D dissolves in fat, inside a gelatin softgel.

  • 100 softgels, over three months at one a day
  • Made in the USA
  • The softgel is made with gelatin, so it isn’t vegetarian
  • Keep it somewhere cool, dry and out of direct light, out of reach of children, and don’t use it if the safety seal is damaged or missing

Vitamin D3 · 2,000 IU softgels

For the days the sun
doesn’t show up.

Sun is how your body makes vitamin D. But between desks, commutes, winters and sunscreen, most of us barely see it. So: one small softgel of D3, the same form your skin makes, at a steady 2,000 IU. Sun or no sun.

What’s inside

What’s in it, and why it’s there.

One vitamin, chosen with care. Here’s what’s in the softgel, and why it’s made this way.

One softgel a day. The full Supplement Facts are above.

  1. Vitamin D3

    50 mcg (2,000 IU)as cholecalciferol

Your body uses vitamin D to absorb calcium, one of the building blocks of strong bones and teeth, and your muscles need it to work normally.*

The honest bit 2,000 IU is 250% of the Daily Value and half the adult upper limit: a steady everyday amount, not a mega-dose. If another bottle has vitamin D too, add them up.

Also in: Salmon, tuna, egg yolks, fortified milk

  2. Why D3

    cholecalciferol

D3 is the form of vitamin D your skin makes when sunlight hits it. Sunshine’s own version, in a softgel.

  3. A drop of oil

soybean and corn oil, in a gelatin softgel

Vitamin D dissolves in fat, so it comes dissolved in a little oil inside a small, easy-to-swallow softgel.

The honest bit The shell is made with gelatin, so it isn’t vegetarian.

Before you add it to your cart

Is it right for you?

Here’s who it suits best, and when it’s worth a word with your doctor.

Could be a good fit if…

  • Most of your days happen indoors.
  • You live somewhere with long, gray winters.
  • Your skin is rich in melanin, or you wear sunscreen every day.
  • You want the simplest routine there is: one softgel.

Worth a word with your doctor if…

  • You’re pregnant, nursing or take medication.
  • You already take vitamin D in another product. Add up the labels.
  • You avoid animal products. The softgel is gelatin.
  • A doctor is already managing your vitamin D.

Good to know

Things worth knowing, before you buy.

  • Made for indoor days.

Desks, gray winters and daily SPF.

Your skin makes vitamin D from sunlight, and plenty of us don’t get much of it. If your days happen indoors, your winters are long and gray, or you never skip sunscreen, one softgel a day keeps you topped up, sun or no sun.

  • The more melanin, the less vitamin D.

Good to know, especially if nobody told you.

Melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color, also means skin makes less vitamin D from the same sunshine. Skin makes less as we get older, too. A daily softgel takes the guesswork out.

  • 250%of your Daily Value

    2,000 IU, every day.

250% of the Daily Value, and half the upper limit.

Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium for strong bones and teeth, and supports normal muscle function.* One softgel gives you a steady 2,000 IU, with plenty of room left for the vitamin D in your food or a multivitamin.

  • With a meal, any time.

    Whenever you’ll remember.

A little fat in your meal helps your body absorb vitamin D, so breakfast or dinner both work. There’s no magic hour. The best time is the one you’ll stick to.

Make it a habit

What’s in it

The practical stuff

Can I take it with a multivitamin?

Yes. Ours has a little vitamin D too, so together you get 2,400 IU a day, comfortably under the 4,000 IU upper limit for adults. Taking something else with vitamin D? Add up the labels, or ask your pharmacist.

What’s in the softgel?

Vitamin D3 (as cholecalciferol) in soybean and corn oil, inside a shell made of gelatin, glycerin and water.

Is it vegetarian?

The softgel shell is made with gelatin, so it isn’t vegetarian.

I’m pregnant or take medication. Is it OK?

Your doctor is the best person to ask, and they can check your vitamin D with a simple blood test, so you know where you stand.
